1.Red Rocks Park’s Trading Post Trail

Located 15 miles west of Denver, about a 30-minute drive

 What I love about this location is the rock formations and the beautiful scenery. 

With a loop of about 1.5 miles, it’s perfect for the little ones. 

Your kids might enjoy climbing the rocks and pretending there are dinosaurs. 

Plus, it’s full of that dino feel and offers a great scenic view.

2.Cherry Creek State Park’s Cherry Creek Reservoir Loop  

Situated 12 miles southeast of Denver, about a 25-minute drive. 

This path is about 6 to 7 miles long and is stroller and bike-friendly. 

The paved trail enhances the hiking experience for young ones, and along the way, you might spot dogs, turtles, and beautiful mountain views.

3.Lair o’ the Bear Park’s Creekside Loop 

Located 30 miles west of Denver, about a 45-minute drive. 

One of the best features of this trail is its shaded path. 

Less than 2 miles long, it offers an easy terrain for little ones. 

Don’t forget about the bridge, squirrels, ducks, and turtles along the way, making the trip enjoyable for your kids.

4.Waterton Canyon (Chatfield State Park) 

Found 15 miles southwest of Denver, about a 30-minute drive. 

This nearly 7-mile-long trail is both hiking and biking friendly. 

The scenic views are perfect for picnicking, and the river offers opportunities for fishing. 

If you’re lucky, you might witness some deer prancing around.

5.Alderfer/Three Sisters Park’s Alderfer Trail 

Located 20 miles west of Denver, about a 40-minute drive. 

Perfect for kids and advanced hikers due to its terrains. 

Your kids will love the scenery, nature, and spotting deer while exploring different kinds of rocks.

6.Golden Gate Canyon State Park’s Meadow and Forest Loop Trails

Situated 35 miles west of Denver, about a 50-minute drive. 

The interconnected loop, ranging from half a mile to 0.8 miles, offers diverse scenery and trails. 

This variety allows your kids to explore and search for wildflowers and insects.

7.Staunton State Park’s Davis Ponds Loop 

Found 40 miles southwest of Denver, about a 1-hour drive. 

This half-mile loop around a pond is heaven for ducks and curious critters. 

The gentle terrain is ideal for your young ones, and the flat, easy walk creates an enjoyable experience around ducks and turtles. 

Finally, you can enjoy lunch or a picnic around the pond.

8.Genesee Mountain Park’s Panorama Trail 

Located 15 miles west of Denver, about a 30-minute drive. 

This 1.5-mile trail leads you to a stunning view of the mountains and the valley. 

It’s perfect for flower hunting in the spring and offers sledding opportunities in the winter.

9.Mount Falcon Park’s Red Rocks Trail

Situated 15 miles west of Denver, about a 30-minute drive. 

This hike and park are meant for older kids, featuring rock scrambles and beautiful views. 

Once you reach the top, the scenery is breathtaking and the place is peaceful. 

The trail is around 2.5 miles and is designed for older kids.

10.Golden Gate Canyon State Park’s Panorama Mountain Trail 

Located 35 miles west of Denver, about a 50-minute drive. 

This trail is about 3 miles long and is meant for all kids, with a nice climb feature. 

It’s important to mention that this trail is more challenging than others, so put on your hiking boots and get ready.
