Hi, my name is Sammy, and Breckenridge is my favorite destination in the mountains.

Having explored this town, let me be your guide to the top best things you absolutely must do in Breckenridge:

Breckenridge

1. Ski, ski, ski!

For real! This should be the first thing you do. It’s Colorado—we have some of the best slopes for skiing in Breckenridge. Strap on your skis or snowboard and hit the slopes at Breckenridge Ski Resort.

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a first-timer, the slopes cater to everyone.

2. Main Street Charm

A stroll down Main Street feels like a scene from a storybook. I mean, come on, you can’t be in Breckenridge without taking a leisurely walk down its historic Main Street. There’s a special atmosphere surrounding the area during the holiday season.

Boutiques with unique finds, cozy cafés emitting irresistible aromas, and a charming vibe that transports you back in time. Don’t forget to try the free bus, which takes you all around town.

3. Dog Sleigh

Are you a dog lover? My kids have been begging me for a dog, and a dog sled ride was the perfect treat for them. For a truly unique adventure, try dog sledding with Good Times Adventures. It’s an experience like no other.

Picture yourself gliding through a winter wonderland, led by a team of energetic and adorable sled dogs.

4. Visit South Park City Museum

If you and your companions love diving into history, I recommend giving South Park City Museum a visit. With more than 30 well-preserved artifacts, you can explore Colorado’s rich history.

Little ones can enjoy the beautiful scenery and hands-on activities.

5. Drive to the Top of Peak 10

If you are looking for a scenic activity, head up to Peak 10. The scenery is both breathtaking and intimidating. You can either drive or hike there. The road consists mainly of switchbacks and rocks.

It’s worth mentioning that the gate to Peak 10 might not open until the end of July, depending on how fast the snow melts.

6. Dive into a Hot Spring

I recommend visiting a hot spring during the winter season. It warms you up on cold days and offers minerals that are beneficial for your skin.

There are two hot springs nearby. The first is Indian Springs, located about 50 miles east toward Denver, and the second is Cottonwood Hot Springs, Buena Vista, CO, about 68 miles away.

7. Hike at Sawmill Trail

Put on your hiking boots and immerse yourself in Breck’s stunning scenery. This trail offers an easy to moderate challenge, making it perfect for exploring the area’s natural beauty.

My favorite part is hiking along the creek, but the breathtaking views of the reservoir and surrounding mountains are not to be missed. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a moose along the way.

8. Cruise Through Boreas Pass

Boreas Pass is one of my favorite scenic drives during the summer. Once a historic railroad route, it’s now a destination for nature lovers seeking breathtaking views.

The rough terrain can be hard on tires, so an AWD vehicle is recommended. You’ll find short trails along the way to explore on foot. Keep in mind, the pass closes during snowstorms.

9. Meet Isak the Troll

Don’t venture far from Boreas Pass—head over to 189 Boreas Pass Rd, Breckenridge, CO 80424, to visit Isak the Troll.

Isak has a unique story in Breckenridge and a huge fan following. When you visit Breck, he should be at the top of your list. Check out this article: Isak the Troll: The Full Story.

10. Downstairs at Eric’s

A landmark and a must-visit restaurant. If you’re around Breckenridge’s Main Street and craving pizza and cheese fries in a laid-back atmosphere, this is the place to be.

Opened in 1989, it is family-friendly and features a great selection of arcade games.

11. Go snowmobiling

Looking for some fun? Try riding a 500-pound snow machine. You’ll enjoy the speed and the sightseeing.

I recommend trying Offroad Life Rentals. The fact that they offer the truck, trailer, and gas is a great selling point for their rental equipment.
