The Dushanbe Teahouse is a hand-carved Persian teahouse gifted to Boulder by its sister city in Tajikistan. Artisans spent three years carving the intricate ceiling and columns. Today it houses a restaurant serving global cuisine as unique as the building itself.
Dushanbe Teahouse
A Gift Between Cities
The Building
Forty artisans spent three years hand-carving the ceiling, columns, and decorative panels in Tajikistan. The pieces were shipped to Boulder and reassembled like a puzzle. Every surface features intricate patterns—spend time looking up.
The Food
The menu draws from Persian, Mediterranean, and global influences. Lamb dishes, rice preparations, and kebabs are highlights. The tea selection, naturally, is extensive and excellent.
The Setting
Located on Boulder Creek near Central Park. The creekside patio is spectacular in summer. Inside, the craftsmanship creates an atmosphere unlike any other restaurant in Colorado.
Pro Tip: Come for weekend brunch—it's less crowded than dinner and you can appreciate the architecture in daylight. Request a patio table in summer. The tea service with pastries makes a great afternoon stop.
