The Hike

Summit Trail: The main path to the top. Steady climb with switchbacks. About 2.5 miles each way if going direct.

Loop Options: Combine trails for a 6.6-mile loop. The Green Mountain Trail, Summit Trail, and Lonesome Trail make a good circuit.

The Top: 360-degree views. Denver skyline to the east, Red Rocks and mountains to the west. On clear days, you can see Pikes Peak.

Know Before You Go

Difficulty: Moderate. The climb is steady but not technical. Good fitness required.

Timing: 2-3 hours for the full loop. Start early on summer days to avoid heat - no shade on the upper trail.

Dogs: Allowed on leash. Bring water for them too.

Pro Tip: Sunrise hikes are magical. Start at first light, summit for the sunrise, and be down before the crowds arrive. Parking fills fast on weekend mornings.
