Hey there! I’m excited to share my favorite outdoor adventures in sunny Denver, Colorado.

If you love exploring nature, catching breathtaking views, and getting away from the city buzz for a bit, you’re in the right place.

Walk Cherry Creek Trail

This trail is perfect for you if you’re looking for a relaxed walk or a gentle bike ride. I often find myself following this path, enjoying a long, flat route that feels like a peaceful escape.

You can walk, run, or bike along the trail as it winds through neighborhoods, parks, and even shopping areas.

Ride a Scooter on 16th Street Mall

Denver is a scooter-friendly town. You can rent a scooter on the spot; they exist everywhere. You can ride it through the 16th Street Mall to Broadway, the RiNo district, and Colfax. There are plenty of routes. Try Torchy’s route if you like tacos.

Hike Red Rocks Park – Trading Post Trail

The trail is a moderate loop that takes you around these incredible rock structures. It’s a short hike, but every step is filled with amazing views that remind you why Denver’s outdoors are so special.

Visit Denver Zoo

A good destination to enjoy outdoor activities any time of the year. It’s a nice walking distance with a lot of animal information and background. My favorite part is the gorilla enclosure. Usually, my kids have a lot of fun there. Be aware that on hot days, animals tend to hide in the shade and their shelters.

Hike Mount Falcon Castle Trail

The trail leads to the ruins of an old stone castle on a hilltop—imagine that! The climb isn’t too hard, but it’s just challenging enough to get your heart racing.

Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Denver and the surrounding foothills.

Skateboard at Skateboard Park

Are you a skateboard enthusiast? If so, this is the right place to be. Around the intersection of 20th Street and Little Raven Street, you’ll find a great skate park.

It’s super busy there, so you’ll be surrounded by people who share your love for skateboarding. It’s located near the South Platte River, and it’s got a killer view.

Hike Mount Bierstadt

Located about an hour and half west of Denver, this one’s for the experienced hikers out there. I’ve taken on this 14er when I wanted to push my limits, and trust me, it’s a serious workout.

The trail is steep and rocky, but the sense of accomplishment when you reach the summit is unforgettable.

Visit Washington Park (Wash Park)

You might hear locals call it “Wash Park,” and it’s easy to see why. This spacious park boasts beautiful lakes, lush gardens, and plenty of grassy areas perfect for a picnic blanket.

I usually pack a sandwich and a book and find a nice spot by the lake. Trust me, if you have a cat, they might enjoy it out there too.

Jog Sloan’s Lake Park

This park is very close to downtown Denver, offering scenic views and plenty of nearby food options. It is a popular spot and often busy.

You’ll find tennis courts and a trail around the lake perfect for a leisurely walk or bike ride. The reflection of the skyline on the water is simply stunning.

Bike South Platte River and Clear Creek Trails

For a longer biking adventure, why not connect the South Platte River Trail with the Clear Creek Trail?

I’ve done this route a few times, and it’s a fantastic way to transition from urban landscapes to natural scenery. The ride takes you out to Golden.

Bike High Line Canal Trail

If you’re looking for a less crowded option, I recommend the High Line Canal Trail. It goes through various parts of the metro area and offers a peaceful ride away from the busier city routes.

I enjoy the mix of paved and crushed gravel sections, which keeps the ride interesting.

Bike Lookout Mountain

It’s one of Denver’s most iconic climbs, with challenging switchbacks that will make your legs work hard. The ascent is steep, but the payoff is a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
