Aurora Reservoir

East Metro's Water Recreation Hub

Aurora Reservoir is the east metro's answer to Cherry Creek - an 820-acre lake with a swim beach, sailing, and even scuba diving. The 8-mile trail circling the water offers mountain views, and the fishing is excellent. It's Aurora's best outdoor destination.

Water Activities

Swim Beach: Sandy beach with lifeguards from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Cleaner and less crowded than Cherry Creek's beach.

Sailing: One of the best sailing lakes in the metro. No motorized boats means calm water and consistent winds.

Scuba Diving: One of Colorado's few open-water scuba sites. Good visibility and sunken attractions for divers to explore.

Kayaking & SUP: Rentals available on-site. Excellent conditions for beginners and experienced paddlers alike.

On Land

Trail: The 8-mile paved loop circles the entire reservoir. Flat and fast - popular with runners and cyclists.

Fishing: Trout, walleye, bass, and wiper. Fish from shore or bring a non-motorized boat.

Pro Tip: The reservoir is the east metro's best-kept secret. Less crowded than Cherry Creek with similar amenities. Worth the drive from Denver.
